Preliminary thoughts on habits and gaming.

I’ve had this thought of Blizzard’s games and how they’re less game and more on capitalizing gamers’ (people’s) habits. The immediate reward from short-sighted pseudo success is more than enough to motivate people to keep playing. Basically when designing World of Warcraft and Diablo 3 they crafted a world that is less about “gaming” and more about trying to find habits to tap into to keep people playing. 

I feel like I’m stating the obvious. 

Building a character, obtaining loot, and the extra motivation of competition from other players.
